Upstream Ad Delivery Problems Resolved, Delivery Domains Updated
In late November, we saw a sudden drop in our delivery rates for some of the largest countries in Asia. We started working quickly to resolve the issue, but due to the complexity of the problem, the solution proved to be somewhat elusive. Not all traffic from the region had stopped, only specific segments that did not appear to have anything in common at first.
Since the early days of JuicyAds, we have always delivered traffic from our base domain for nearly 14 years now. Back then, ad blocking did not exist, and now with software blocking ads as well as countries and Telecomms, it appeared that some advanced blocking was occurring. We used the opportunity to solve a long-standing issue, by upgrading our delivery network so that we would no longer deliver traffic from our base domain.
We rolled out our solution, and the problem was solved – except it wasn’t. We had updated our banner delivery domain for impressions, clicks, and other functionality. But the problems persisted.
Finally, we discovered the problem was outside our control and laid with one of our upstream providers. It was a more extensive outage that was not explicitly related to JuicyAds at all. We have now entirely re-routed the traffic for those regions, and the problem was solved. The bonus was an upgraded and better-than-before delivery network. Yay!
For those who have not yet updated your Banner Adzones, you can get the new codes (or view the new domain) from the “Sell Ads” page.
