Working with Traffic Tiers at JuicyAds
If you’re new to online advertising or still getting used to various targeting options, you have probably heard the term ‘Traffic Tiers’ and may be wondering what they are and how to best use them. In short, traffic tiers are a geo targeting option advertisers use to focus on specific countries based on value.
There are various factors to consider when selecting countries and traffic tiers, such as:
  • The offer is relevant to the population you are targeting

  • Your offer is legal in those regions

  • The product or service can be billed and/or shipped to those locations

  • The offer is affordable to the people in the countries you have selected

Every platform has their own categorization of traffic tiers, so below is a look at how traffic is divided geographically at JuicyAds.
Tier 1
In general, Tier 1 countries are the most valuable overall and therefore the most competitive. At JuicyAds, these are well developed, English-speaking countries and territories with the best technology and internet access, a higher-earning population and mass adoption of credit cards. Tier 1 countries are highlighted in green on the JuicyAds platform.
Tier 2
Tier 2 countries, highlighted in yellow on the platform, are mostly European countries, still with a higher-earning population and access to modern technology and high-speed internet. While credit cards are readily available, the population here may look for direct debit, e-wallets and other forms of payment. Traffic here tends to be a little less competitive and advertisers may be able to find lower bids and flat-rate prices in these geos.
Tier 3
Tier 3 consists of still-developing countries that may have lower income, less access to technology and may need alternative payment options to credit cards. Traffic here is generally the lowest priced on the network and there is less competition for this traffic. That said, many of our clients do very well by targeting these countries with the right offers. These countries are highlighted in red on the platform.
When you’re setting up your campaigns, you will be asked to select a single country to target or a collection of countries:
It is important that you group your geo-targeting in traffic tiers to ensure you’re bidding appropriately for all countries in your campaign. For example, in the graphic above I have selected a group of countries that include Tiers 1, 2 and 3. This will result in bidding the same CPC or CPM for a Tier 1 country as for a Tier 3 country, which obviously isn’t cost-effective for the advertisers.
If you have an offer you would like to promote in more than one tier, we advise that you set up separate campaigns for each tier in order to get the best price and the most out of your advertising budget.
